Eva Serena is an indie pop artist from the Netherlands. Her label and management team approached Resolution to produce and edit the music video for her debut single, Somebody Human. Their plan was to shoot Eva in different, beautifully unique backgrounds. Using ELI, Resolution designed a stylized, intentionally artificial surrounding environment.

Preparation: Eva’s team wanted to place her in an otherworldly environment. Our in-house graphics team designed a number of unique backgrounds that were a combination of stock and motion graphics. To place Eva in these environments using a green screen would be challenging and costly. We presented ELI and suggested placing her inside a cube of LED walls. 3D camera tracking and green screen compositing wouldn’t be necessary, allowing for total creative freedom. Making it much more cost effective and just as visually stunning as using green screen technology.

ELI and Production: All content was modified by our graphics department for seamless playback through a customized multi-display software. To ensure content matched when changing viewing and shooting angles, we provided color matching and color temperature adjustments. We also covered the floor with gloss black vinyl for reflective attributes.

Conclusion: Custom LEDs is a specialty of ours and this was an opportunity to do something incredibly creative and explore the possibilities of LED. Resolution previously designed blueprints for an LED cube, but were waiting for the right project to implement it.
